Geographical Moves Possible for Head Injury Individuals?

Posted in Group:

I have been married for 15 years to an individual that has been head injured for 18 years.

I find myself feeling very alone for the most part. Most of my family is 2,500 miles away. We live in my spouse's home town where his 80 year old mother lives.

I want to move back to the East where I will have more support and my spouse is very resistent to the move.

I don't know what to say or do anymore? My spouse was told from a psychologist that individuals with head injuries cannot make geographical

The doctor should be the one to tell you for sure if your husband can relocate to another state and what form of transportation he can use. Wishing you all well. God bless you.

I understand what it's like totally to have a brain injured spouse.

It's so very hard indeed.

How does your husband feel about the move? You need all the support you can get! It would be great to be with family!
Good Luck~

God Bless,
Violet~

ktb,

Find a local tramatic brain injury support group in your area... if u dont know how to find it, check with your state for a tbi support group.. they are in all states as far as i know. I am a tbi'er too many times and can tell you that, there are good support groups out there for the person theirselves and their spouse/family/friends.... in search in google (the best search i have found) put in brain injury support group and put in your state.. it will come up with the groups main office ... from there call or contact them asking there where is a support group for you in your area... I live in wa. state... use ta live in oregon and ny , so i do know that is what you can do.... all states have a number/address/ or contact person for you to call....
I hope i have helped somewhat......

now to answer about moving him? well, that does depend on the dr. on what they say if he can be moved.... I only can share with you what has happened with me and others i have dealt with that have tbi also.. I know its hard for the ppl who deal with us.. reason why i do isolate so i am not a burden to others..... tc...and God bless
